Kevin R. Marcy, a fifth generation
funeral director, has combined his wealth of funeral
service knowledge and his years of professional
recruiting experience to launch FuneralStaff (www.funeralstaff.com).
FuneralStaff is a professional, full service staffing
and consulting firm specializing in placing funeral
service professionals, administrators and support
staff into opportunities in the funeral industry.
With
more than 20 years of combined experience in
funeral service and executive staffing, Mr.
Marcy and FuneralStaff can help funeral service
candidates find opportunities
with some of the finest funeral homes, crematories, cremation
societies, pre-need or cemetery organizations

Because of their extensive experience, they can also assist
funeral service organizations with their consulting and
staffing services to identify, hire and help them retain
the finest professionals available in the industry today.
FuneralStaff
founder, Kevin R. Marcy, grew up in a family owned funeral
home in Northeast Ohio, washing cars, delivering flowers
and eventually assisting his father in most areas of the
business. After college, he moved to Atlanta and worked
in a corporate owned funeral home experiencing the corporate
side of the funeral industry. During that time he worked
in all areas of the business, but concentrated on the funeral
homes pre-need and aftercare services. He was able to increase
the pre-need sales over 200%. “I really learned a lot about how things were
run on the corporate side of the funeral industry”.
“I had more experience in the industry than most of
my peers when I finally went to mortuary school”.
After
graduating from Gupton-Jones, Mr. Marcy was hired to manage
the pre-need operation of a family owned operation. About
that time, they lost their GM, so he took over and managed
both operations. During his tenure there, he was able to
help the owner grow the business significantly, increase
pre-need and at-need sales dramatically, as well as decrease
receivables. “It
is all about finding out what families really need, providing
several alternatives, and showing them the value in their
choices”. “It is also about asking the hard questions
in a compassionate manner.” “Most families understand
that you have to get paid for your services in a timely manner”.
Also,
during this time, he helped open a second branch of their
funeral operation in Georgia. “In our first year, we served almost 100
additional families just in that funeral home alone”.
“It was very gratifying to see both business grow so
rapidly”
“There aren’t
too many areas in the funeral industry I don’t have
at least a little experience in.”
After
that operation was sold, Mr. Marcy took his people skills
and helped a friend start a staffing agency. This agency
also worked in a niche market and immediately was embraced
by Fortune 500 and “high
growth” companies. “I have placed hundreds of
candidates into some of the finest corporations in the world,
like Wal-Mart, Target, Kraft, General Electric, Frito-Lay,
Pfizer and many more.”

my plans are to pass this experience on to my clients in
